Audience: This virtual workshop will be most useful to literacy leaders, reading specialists, educators, substitute teachers, teachers with emergency licenses, and school teams serving learners in grades 4K - 1st grade.


This workshop is a follow-up and expansion of the DPI webinars on content and instructional strategies for teaching foundational reading skills. Phonological awareness, phonics, the ELA standard revisions, and the new FRST tool will be presented along with resources for successful implementation of content.


This workshop is focused on universal instruction delivered in English within an equitable multi-level system of support in 4K through grade 1. Information will align with Wisconsin’s Academic Standards for English Language Arts (ELA), 2020.


This no-cost workshop will be virtual and include all three sessions on November 6, December 4, and January 15 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM each day.


November 6, 2020- Session will cover: ELA Standard Revisions, FRST Tool, Introduction and overview to Phonological Awareness content and resources
December 4, 2020- Session will cover: Phonological Awareness content and resources, continued
January 15, 2021- Session will cover: Phonics content and resources for implementation of effective instruction, and wrap up of series
